"Great sound system for the money" 2009-12-31
By S. Savage (Flagstaff, AZ USA)
Maybe my expectations were pretty low. I have some very cheap speakers that don't work well at all with my Sansa MP3, so for less than $100, I didn't expect much from this sound system. When I tried it out, I was very impressed with the sound quality as well as the volume of the system. I use it at work, and it is perfect for my needs. Having an FM radio included, plus the charging feature were added perks that I didn't expect. I highly recommend this system for anyone looking for a low cost speaker system for their MP3 player.

"Product is Acceptable but not Great" 2009-11-24
By Denver4Jesus (Denver, CO USA)
I purchased the Altec Lansing im413 speaker / docking station for my Sansa Fuze 4G music player. I did read the other reviews before purchase and decided to go ahead since there are really very few other options out there that will work with the Sansa Fuze players (as opposed to ipods).

Overall I am marginally satisfied with the im413. The design is ok - it is modern and doesn't take up too much room - and it DOES fit the player well. The wire antenna is a BAD design item. I would have gladly paid a bit more for a real, retractable antenna.

The speaker quality is not very good. The volume does not go up very high. I bought this to use with my Sansa Fuze in the home while I am cleaning, cooking or doing other things where it is not convenient to use the earbuds. I can't hear it in the next room. There is a lot of crackling and static on the speakers if turned up even a little bit. This is true when using the Sansa and when using the FM Radio.

I also use this as a table top radio when I am moving from room to room in my home - and in the garage. It is OK - but not great because of the poor sound quality and the poor FM signal.

The charger function works great and this is really designed to fit and charge the Sansa Fuze products - so this part works very well. I also do like that I can move it from room to room.

If I was aware of other similar products with better FM and better speaker quality - I would have returned this and spent more money for better quality. But I don't know of other products that I could have chosen that are designed for the Fuze - so I kept it. It is waaay better than nothing and I am glad I purchased it. I hope in the future that Altec Lansing corrects the design flaw in the antenna and improves the speaker quality.

 "An awesome player!!!" 2009-11-18
By Scott Bronner (Lancastr, PA)
The sound quality is really good! it's crisp and clear. Also it's pretty thin so you can put it in ur backpack and take it to a trip. The only complaint of this player is that it doesn't have a adapter for the sansa fuze so when u put it on the dock it kinda wobbles. I got this for $30 so it was definitely worth it!!!

This player has an awesome sound to it. I like the portability of being able to use it at home and at work. Would highly recommend this player to everyone.

By Shane B. Russell-Jenkins (Yuma, AZ)
EAsy to use with my mp3 Player. A bit confusing if you have others, as you have to use an adapter to mount the mp3 player to the connector... Which means hih propability of losing said adapters... Or having one's puppy eat them...
